USDA TO PROVIDE FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH FOR ALL WESTWOOD STUDENTS!

USDA TO TEMPORARILY FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH FOR ALL WESTWOOD STUDENTS!

Dear Westwood Families,

We are pleased to announce that starting September 14, 2020, Westwood CSD will be switching from the National School Breakfast & Lunch Program (NSLP) to the Summer Food Program (SFSP) that the USDA recently extended.  Doing this allows the district to provide FREE Breakfast & Lunch to ALL westwood students. This program is scheduled to run until May 21, 2020 or until funds run out.

What this means is…

  • All Westwood students are eligible for FREE breakfast and lunch

  • The menu will NOT change, they will still receive the same hot breakfast & lunch items that they have been getting

  • They are still able to bring their own cold lunch from home if they choose

  • Additional items like seconds, extra milk, & A LA Carte items WILL be charged at normal price

When funds run out, we will go back to the regular NSLP program and resume charging for meals according to their eligibility.  We will let you know as soon as possible when that happens.   For now, the free meals will be the only option for school meals, other than the student bringing their lunch from home.  The school encourages families to keep their Free & Reduced Lunch Applications current so they are on file when the district must switch back to the NSLP.
