New Teachers At Westwood 2021-22!!!

Hello! My name is Jane Rebensdorf and I am the new special education teacher in the elementary special education classroom at Westwood.

I received my Strat 2 special education  endorsement from Morningside in May, and this is my first year teaching. I have 8 years of experience as a para working in special ed classrooms, and also have a bachelor's degree in art. Prior to being a para, I owned a craft shop for many years while my sons were growing up.

In my free time I enjoy family time with my two grown sons and my little granddaughter that will be 3 in January.  I live in Sioux City and like to spend time taking our rescue dog, Ollie, to local parks and trails for walks. I also love to bake and craft.

I grew up in a small town and am happy to be teaching at a small town school. I'm so excited to be a part of the Westwood team and look forward to a great year. Go Rebels!!!

Hello! I am Miranda Arnold and I am the new 7/8 Reading and English teacher at Westwood. For the past seven years, I was the 8th grade science teacher at Dakota Valley Middle School and before that I taught 7th and 8th graders at Holy Cross Catholic School - Blessed Sacrament Center in Sioux City for nine years.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and camping with my husband and our three girls. We recently moved to Salix and we love small town living! I'm so excited to be a Rebel!

Hello! My name is Alex Groth and I will be teaching Special Education next year, and become the boys basketball head coach at Westwood High School. I currently teach in the Sioux City Community School District where I have taught Secondary SPED/ Co-taught the last 4 years. Previously, before teaching in Sioux City, I taught 5th grade in Homer, NE. I graduated from Morningside College in 2015 with my Elementary Education degree endorsed with reading and writing, while playing college ball. In my free time, I love hanging out with my family, seeing friends, traveling, and coaching. I have made previous coaching stops at South Sioux City, Sioux City North, and Briar Cliff where I have coached at a variety of levels. I bring plenty of experience to this great opportunity! I am excited for this next chapter of my teaching and coaching career being able to work in such a wonderful place like Westwood. Go Rebels!
