Elementary Computer Science Fun

The elementary students have been enjoying participating in The Hour of Code through

tutorials featuring Star Wars, Minecraft and Frozen.

The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+

countries. It is a one hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and

show that anybody can learn the basics.

The goal of the Hour of Code is not to teach anybody to become an expert computer

scientist in one hour. One hour is only long enough to learn that computer science is fun and

creative and that it is accessible for all ages. Computer science helps nurture problem solving

skills, logic and creativity.

Please take time to visit http://code.org with your children and try computer science

coding together.

Here are some pictures of one of the fifth grade classes working on the Minecraft

tutorials in computer lab. Some of the students have completed the Hour of Code and are

shown with their certificates.
